My name is Kathy, and I am the primary caregiver for my 79 year old Dad who has Alzheimer's disease and lives with me in North Carolina.

I am writing a daily blog on my Alzheimer's caregiver website that shows the lighter side of caring for someone with dementia.

We have also added over 100 pages of resources for caregivers that we have gathered over the three years Dad has lived here.

Please pass this link along to anyone you feel would enjoy it.

Hi Julia,

I wanted to thank you for your website. Lots of great information that people really need to know.

I also wanted to share with you two websites you may find of interest:

www.beyondhealth.com – Beyond Health is a Nutritional Consulting company. There’s lots of wonderful information on this site about how to get well and stay well without using drugs or surgery. One feature I enjoy is dozens of holistic health articles found at http://beyondhealth.com/articles.aspx

I highly recommend the book Never Be Sick Again http://beyondhealth.com/Never_Be_Sick_Again-prod9.aspx

www.tped.org – The Project To End Disease – created by Raymond Francis, this non-profit is designed to educate people holistically so they have the information they need to be able to take a more active role in their own healthcare decisions (instead of leaving those decisions exclusively to western medicine, the HMOs, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Wishing you all the best,

Steve Keyser

Despite the availability of information about caregiving and the many light-hearted stories about it, I have to admit I'm still a little worried about being put in that position. I hope that never happens, obviously, but I'm not even sure if I could handle it if it became a reality. I'm contemplating going for some home health care training, both to develop another skill and to be able to cope with a family member's needs.

http://www.medifecta.com/ has some interesting educational items, both in book and video format. Good place to start I think.

Good post, but have you thought about An Uncertain Inheritance: Writers on Caring for Family – A Very Special Book About Family Caregiving before?

sudden memory loss

I find this quite interesting, my uncle suffers from Alzheimer's and well is been difficult for the family. Great post
